There is hereby created theNorth Carolina National Guard Meritorious Unit Citation which shall be astreamer, a unit emblem, and a certificate, all of appropriate design asapproved by the Governor or his designated representative. The Adjutant Generalis authorized to present such citation to any unit of the North CarolinaNational Guard distinguishing itself through heroism or meritorious service tothe State of North Carolina. The required heroism or meritorious service, whileof a lesser degree than that required for the award of the North CarolinaNational Guard Governor's Unit Citation, must nevertheless have beenaccomplished with distinction.
