§ 130A‑45.13.  Authorityto contract directly with private providers to operate billing system forcounty Medicaid claims.

A public health authorityboard may contract directly with private vendors to operate the authority'sMedicaid billing system as an alternative to the State‑operated healthservices information system. The contract may provide for the private vendor tobill directly the State Medicaid billing system (MMIS), thereby bypassing theState health services information system (HSIS). The public health authorityshall issue a "request for proposal" to solicit private vendor bidsfor contracts authorized under this section. Information systems authorizedunder this section shall be consistent with and interface with relevantstatewide public health data systems to address State cost containment andservice reporting needs.
