Article 6.

Disability Income Plan ofNorth Carolina.

§ 135‑100.  Short titleand purpose.

(a)        This Article shallbe known and may be cited as the "Disability Income Plan of NorthCarolina".

(b)        The purpose of thisArticle is to provide equitable replacement income for eligible teachers andemployees who become temporarily or permanently disabled for the performance oftheir duty prior to retirement, and to encourage disabled teachers andemployees who are able to work to seek gainful employment after a reasonableperiod of rehabilitation, and to provide for the accrual of retirement andancillary benefits to the date the eligible teacher or employee meets therequirements for retirement under the provisions of this Chapter.
