§14‑208.10.  Registration information is public record; access toregistration information.

(a)        The followinginformation regarding a person required to register under this Article ispublic record and shall be available for public inspection: name, sex, address,physical description, picture, conviction date, offense for which registrationwas required, the sentence imposed as a result of the conviction, andregistration status. The information obtained under G.S. 14‑208.22regarding a person's medical records or documentation of treatment for theperson's mental abnormality or personality disorder shall not be a part of thepublic record.

The sheriff shall release anyother relevant information that is necessary to protect the public concerning aspecific person, but shall not release the identity of the victim of theoffense that required registration under this Article.

(b)        Any person mayobtain a copy of an individual's registration form, a part of the countyregistry, or all of the county registry, by submitting a written request forthe information to the sheriff. However, the identity of the victim of anoffense that requires registration under this Article shall not be released.The sheriff may charge a reasonable fee for duplicating costs and for mailingcosts when appropriate.
