Article 12D.

Separation Allowances for Law‑EnforcementOfficers.

§ 143‑166.40.  Rules for selection and retentionof law‑enforcement officers; rules exempt from Administrative ProcedureAct.

(a)        Except as otherwise provided by State and federal law, the headof each principal State department may establish rules and procedures for theselection and retention of sworn law‑enforcement officers to ensure thatthey are physically, emotionally, and intellectually qualified to perform theirduties. These rules and procedures shall not establish any mandatory age limitfor service as a law‑enforcement officer that conflicts with a federalstatute.

(b)        These rules and procedures are exempt from the provisions ofChapter 150B of the General Statutes. (1983 (Reg. Sess., 1984), c. 1034, s. 104; 1987, c. 827, s. 1.)
