§ 143B‑88.  NorthCarolina Arts Council – members; selection; quorum; compensation.

The North Carolina Arts Council shall consist of 24 members appointedby the Governor. The initial members of the Council shall be the appointedmembers of the present Arts Council who shall serve for a period equal to theremainder of their current terms on the Arts Council, eight of whose termsexpire June 30, 1973, eight of whose terms expire June 30, 1974, and eight ofwhose terms expire June 30, 1975. At the end of the respective terms of officeof the initial members, the appointments of their successors shall be for termsof three years and until their successors are appointed and qualify. Any appointment to fill a vacancy on the Council created by the resignation, dismissal,death, or disability of a member shall be for the balance of the unexpiredterm.

The Governor shall have the power to remove any member of the Councilfrom office in accordance with the provisions of G.S. 143B‑16 of theExecutive Organization Act of 1973.

The Governor shall designate a member of the Council as chairman toserve at his pleasure.

Members of the Council shall receive per diem and necessary travel  andsubsistence expenses in accordance with the provisions of G.S. 138‑ 5.

A majority of the Council shall constitute a quorum for the transactionof business.

All clerical and other services required by the Council shall besupplied by the Secretary of Cultural Resources. (1973, c. 476, s. 78.)
