The said board shall have the exclusive control and management of suchcemetery; shall have the power to employ a superintendent and such assistantsas may be needed, and may do any and all things pertaining to the control,maintenance, management and upkeep of the cemetery which the governing body ofthe town or city could have done, or which by law the governing body of thetown or city shall hereafter be authorized to do.
