§ 163‑253.  Article inapplicable to personsafter change of status; reregistration not required.

Upon discharge from the armed forces of the United States ortermination of any other status qualifying the voter to register and vote byabsentee ballot under the provisions of this Article, the voter shall not beentitled to vote by military absentee ballot, but if the voter was registeredunder the provisions of this Article that voter's registration shall remainvalid for the remainder of the calendar year that voter registered, and thatvoter shall be entitled to vote in any primary or election for the remainder ofthe calendar year without having to reregister. If requested by electionofficials, the voter shall present proof of military status at the time ofregistration. This section does not entitle a person to vote in North Carolinaif that person has become disqualified because of change of permanent residenceto another State or because of conviction of a felony.
