§ 163‑27.  Executive Director to be appointed byBoard.

The appointment of the Executive Director of the State Board ofElections is extended to May 15, 1989, unless removed for proper cause, andthereafter the Board shall appoint an Executive Director for a term of fouryears with compensation to be determined by the Department of Personnel. Heshall serve, unless removed for cause, until his successor is appointed. SuchExecutive Director shall be responsible for staffing, administration, executionof the Board's decisions and orders and shall perform such otherresponsibilities as may be assigned by the Board. In the event of a vacancy,the vacancy shall be filled for the remainder of the term. (1973, c. 1409, s. 3; 1985, c. 62, s. 2; 2001‑319, s. 11.)
