§ 20‑134.  Lights onparked vehicles.

(a)        Whenever a vehicleis parked or stopped upon a highway, whether attended or unattended during thetimes mentioned in G.S. 20‑129, there shall be displayed upon suchvehicle one or more lamps projecting a white or amber light visible undernormal atmospheric conditions from a distance of 500 feet to the front of suchvehicle, and projecting a red light visible under like conditions from adistance of 500 feet to the rear, except that local authorities may provide by ordinancethat no lights need be displayed upon any such vehicle when parked inaccordance with local ordinances upon a highway where there is sufficient lightto reveal any person within a distance of 200 feet upon such highway.

(b)        A motor vehicleoperated on a highway by a rural letter carrier or by a newspaper deliveryperson shall be equipped and operated with flashing amber lights at any timethe vehicle is being used in the delivery of mail or newspapers, regardless ofwhether the vehicle is attended or unattended.
