§ 20‑279.6A.  Minors.

In determining whether or notany of the exceptions set forth in G.S. 20‑279.6 have been satisfied, inthe case of accidents involving minors, the Commissioner may accept, for thepurpose of this Article only, as valid releases on account of claims forinjuries to minors or damage to the property of minors releases which have beenexecuted by the parent of the minor having custody of the minor or by theguardian of the minor if there be one. In the case of an emancipated minor, theCommissioner may accept a release signed by or a settlement agreed upon by theminor without the approval of the parents of the minor. If in the opinion ofthe Commissioner the circumstances of the accident, the nature and extent ofthe injuries or damage, or any other circumstances make it advisable for thebest protection of the interest of the minor, the Commissioner may decline toaccept such releases or settlements and may require the approval of thesuperior court.
