§48‑3‑604.  Execution of consent: timing.

(a)        A man whose consentis required under G.S. 48‑3‑601 may execute a consent to adoptioneither before or after the child is born.

(b)        The mother of aminor child may execute a consent to adoption at any time after the child isborn but not sooner.

(c)        A guardian of aminor to be adopted may execute a consent to adoption at any time.

(d)        An agency licensedby the Department or a county department of social services in this State thatplaces a minor for adoption shall execute its consent no later than 30 daysafter being served with notice of the proceeding for adoption.

(e)        A minor to beadopted who is 12 years of age or older may execute a consent at any time. (1995,c. 457, s. 2.)
