Article8.

Interstate Rendition.

§ 52C‑8‑801. Grounds for rendition.

(a)        For purposes ofthis Article, "governor" includes an individual performing thefunctions of governor or the executive authority of a state covered by thisChapter.

(b)        The Governor ofthis State may:

(1)        Demand that thegovernor of another state surrender an individual found in the other state whois charged criminally in this State with having failed to provide for thesupport of an obligee; or

(2)        On the demand by thegovernor of another state, surrender an individual found in this State who ischarged criminally in the other state with having failed to provide for thesupport of an obligee.

(c)        A provision forextradition of individuals not inconsistent with this Chapter applies to thedemand even if the individual whose surrender is demanded was not in thedemanding state when the crime was allegedly committed and has not fledtherefrom. (1995, c. 538, s. 7(c).)
