§53‑114.  Other powers of State Banking Commission.

In addition to all otherpowers conferred upon and vested in the State Banking Commission, the saidCommission, with the approval of the Governor, is hereby authorized, empoweredand directed, whenever in its judgment the circumstances warrant it:

(1)        To authorize,permit, and/or direct and require all banking corporations under itssupervision, to extend for such period and upon such terms as it deemsnecessary and expedient, payment of any demand and/or time deposits.

(2)        To direct, requireor permit, upon such terms as it may deem advisable, the issuance of evidenceof claims against assets of such banking institutions.

(3)        To authorize anddirect the creation, in such banking institutions, of special trust accountsfor the receipt of new deposits, which deposits shall be subject to withdrawalon demand without any restriction or limitation and shall be kept separate incash or on deposit in such banking institutions as it shall designate orinvested in such obligations of the United States and/or the State of NorthCarolina as it shall designate.

(4)        To adopt for suchbanking institutions such regulations as are necessary in its discretion toenable such banking institutions to comply fully with the federal regulationsprescribed for national or state banks. (1933, c. 120, s. 3; 1939, c.91, s. 2; 1995, c. 129, s. 24.)
