§ 58‑90‑5. Commission Established.

There is established the NorthCarolina Health Insurance Innovations Commission. The Commission shall consistof 28 members, appointed as follows:

(1)        Fourteen membersappointed by the General Assembly upon the recommendation of the Speaker of theHouse of Representatives. Of these appointments:

a.         Two shall bephysicians licensed to practice in this State.

b.         One shall representhealth insurers.

c.         Two shall representhospitals located in this State.

d.         One shall representbusinesses with fewer than 50 employees and one shall represent businesses with50 or more employees.

e.         One shall be aperson without health insurance or an advocate for uninsured persons.

f.          One shall representinsurance brokers or agents.

g.         One shall be amember of the Health and Wellness Trust Fund Commission, as established in G.S.147‑86.32.

TheSpeaker shall designate a co‑chair.

(2)        Fourteen membersappointed by the General Assembly upon the recommendation of the President ProTempore of the Senate. Of these appointments:

a.         One shall representphysicians licensed to practice in this State.

b.         Two shall representhealth insurers.

c.         One shall representhospitals located in this State.

d.         One shall representbusinesses with fewer than 50 employees and one shall represent businesses with50 or more employees.

e.         One shall be aperson without health insurance or an advocate of uninsured persons.

f.          One shall representhealth researchers and policy experts.

g.         One shall representnurses.

h.         One shall be amember of the Health and Wellness Trust Fund Commission, as established in G.S.147‑86.32.

ThePresident Pro Tempore shall appoint a co‑chair.

The appointing authoritiesshall ensure that appointments reflect representation among the regions of theState. (2004‑175,s. 2.)
