Every vessel on the waters ofthis State shall be numbered, except those vessels exempted from numberingunder G.S. 75A‑7. No person shall operate or give permission for theoperation of any vessel on the waters of this State unless all of the followingconditions are met:
(1) The vessel isnumbered in accordance with this Chapter, or in accordance with applicablefederal law, or in accordance with a federally approved numbering system ofanother state.
(2) The certificate ofnumber awarded to the vessel is in full force and effect.
(3) The identificationnumber set forth in the certificate of number is displayed on each side of thebow of the vessel. (1959,c. 1064, s. 4; 1983, c. 446, s. 1; 1999‑392, s. 1; 2006‑185, s. 1.)
