§ 7A‑773. Responsibilities of a sentencing services program.

A sentencing services program shall be responsible for:

(1)        Identifying offenders who:

a.         Are charged with or have been offered a plea by the Statefor a felony offense for which the class of offense and prior record levelauthorize the court to impose an active punishment, but do not require that itdo so;

b.         Have a high risk of committing future crimes withoutappropriate sanctions and interventions; and

c.         Would benefit from the preparation of an intensive andcomprehensive sentencing plan of the type prepared by sentencing servicesprograms.

(2)        Preparing detailed sentencing services plans requestedpursuant to G.S. 7A‑773.1 for presentation to the sentencing judge.

(3)        Contracting or arranging with public or private agencies forservices described in the sentencing plan.
