Article 1.

Qualifications ofAttorney; Unauthorized Practice of Law.

§ 84‑1.  Oaths taken inopen court.

Attorneys before they shall beadmitted to practice law shall, in open court before a justice or judge of theGeneral Court of Justice, personally appear and take the oath prescribed forattorneys by G.S. 11‑11, and also the oaths of allegiance to the State,and to support the Constitution of the United States, prescribed for all publicofficers by Article VI, Sec. 7 of the North Carolina Constitution and G.S. 11‑7,and the same shall be entered on the records of the court; and, upon suchqualification had, and oath taken may act as attorneys during their goodbehavior.
