§89C‑15.  Examinations.

(a)        The examinationswill be held at the times and places as the Board directs. The Board shalldetermine the passing grade on examinations. All examinations shall be approvedby the entire Board.

(b)        Writtenexaminations will be given in sections and may be taken only after theapplicant has met the other minimum requirements as given in G.S. 89C‑13and has been approved by the Board for admission to the examination as follows:

(1)        EngineeringFundamentals. – Consists of an eight‑hour examination on the fundamentalsof engineering. Passing this examination qualifies the applicant for anengineering intern certificate, provided the applicant has met all otherrequirements for licensure required by this Chapter.

(2)        Principles and Practiceof Engineering. – Consists of an eight‑hour examination on appliedengineering. Passing this examination qualifies the applicant for licensure asa professional engineer, provided the applicant has met the other requirementsfor registration required by this Chapter.

(3)        SurveyingFundamentals. – Consists of an eight‑hour examination on the elementarydisciplines of land surveying. Passing this examination qualifies the applicantfor a land surveyor intern certificate provided the applicant has met all otherrequirements for certification required by this Chapter.

(4)        Principles andPractices of Land Surveying. – Consists of a six‑hour examination on thebasic and applied disciplines of land surveying and a two‑hourexamination on requirements specific to the practice of land surveying in NorthCarolina. Passing each of these examinations qualifies the applicant for aprofessional land surveyor certificate provided the applicant has met all otherrequirements for certification required by this Chapter.
