§ 90‑210.102.  Hearingby Board of dispute over liability for funeral benefits; appeal.

In case of a disagreementbetween the representative of a deceased member of any burial association andsuch deceased member's burial association a hearing may be held by the Board ofFuneral Service, on request of either party, to determine whether theassociation is liable for the benefits set forth in the policy issued to thesaid deceased member of said burial association. The Board of Funeral Serviceshall render a decision which shall have the same force and effect as judgmentsrendered by courts of competent jurisdiction in North Carolina. Either partymay appeal from the decision of the Board of Funeral Service. Appeal shall beto the district court division of the General Court of Justice in the county inwhich the burial association is located. The procedure for appeal shall be thesame as the appeal procedure set forth in Article 19 of Chapter 7A of theGeneral Statutes of North Carolina regulating appeals from the magistrate tothe district court.
