§ 90‑336.  Title andqualifications for licensure.

(a)        Each persondesiring to be a licensed professional counselor associate, licensedprofessional counselor, or licensed professional counselor supervisor shallmake application to the Board upon such forms and in such manner as the Boardshall prescribe, together with the required application fee.

(b)        The Board shallissue a license as a "licensed professional counselor associate" toan applicant who meets all of the following criteria:

(1)        Has earned a minimumof 48 semester hours or 72 quarter credit hours of graduate training as definedby the Board, including a master's degree in counseling or a related field froma regionally accredited institution of higher education if the applicantenrolled in the master's program before July 1, 2009; a minimum of 54 semesterhours or 81 quarter credit hours of graduate training as defined by the Board,including a master's degree in counseling or a related field from a regionallyaccredited institution of higher education if the applicant enrolled in themaster's program before July 1, 2013, but after June 30, 2009; or a minimum of60 semester hours or 90 quarter credit hours of graduate training as defined bythe Board, including a master's degree in counseling or a related field from aregionally accredited institution of higher education if the applicant enrolledin the master's program after June 30, 2013.

(2)        Repealed by SessionLaws 2009‑367, s. 6, effective October 1, 2009.

(3)        Has passed anexamination in accordance with rules adopted by the Board.

(c)        The Board shallissue a license as a "licensed professional counselor" to anapplicant who meets all of the following criteria:

(1)        Has met all of therequirements under subsection (b) of this section.

(2)        Has completed aminimum of 3,000 hours of supervised professional practice as determined by theBoard.

(d)        (See Editor'snote) A licensed professional counselor may apply to the Board forrecognition as a "licensed professional counselor supervisor" andreceive the credential "licensed professional counselor supervisor"upon meeting all of the following criteria:

(1)        Has met all of therequirements under subsection (c) of this section.

(2)        Has one of thefollowing:

a.         At least five yearsof full‑time licensed professional counseling experience, including aminimum of 2,500 hours of direct client contact;

b.         At least eight yearsof part‑time licensed professional counseling experience, including aminimum of 2,500 hours of direct client contact; or

c.         A combination offull‑time and part‑time professional counseling experience,including a minimum of 2,500 hours of direct client contact as determined bythe Board.

(3)        Has completedminimum education requirements in clinical supervision as approved by theBoard.

(4)        Has an activelicense in good standing as a licensed professional counselor approved by theBoard.  (1983,c. 755, s. 1; 1993, c. 514, s. 1; 2009‑367, s. 6.)
