Local school administrative units may hire persons who are not licensedunder this Article. The persons hired may perform the activities of athletictrainers in the scope of their employment but may not claim to be licensedunder this Article. The persons hired may not perform the activities ofathletic trainers outside the scope of this employment unless they areauthorized to do so under G.S. 90‑527(b). (1997‑387, s. 1.)
