§ 90‑683.  Licenserequired; exemptions.

(a)        On or after July 1,2006, no person shall practice or offer to practice perfusion as defined inthis Article, use the title "licensed perfusionist" or"provisional licensed perfusionist", use the letters "LP"or "PLP", or otherwise indicate or imply that the person is alicensed perfusionist or a provisionally licensed perfusionist unless thatperson is currently licensed as provided in this Article.

(b)        The provisions ofthis Article shall not apply to:

(1)        Any personregistered, certified, credentialed, or licensed to engage in anotherprofession or occupation or any person working under the supervision of aperson registered, certified, credentialed, or licensed to engage in anotherprofession or occupation in this State if the person is performing workincidental to the practice of that profession or occupation and the person doesnot represent himself or herself as a licensed perfusionist or a provisionallylicensed perfusionist.

(2)        A student enrolledin an accredited perfusion education program if perfusion services performed bythe student are an integral part of the student's course of study and areperformed under the direct supervision of a licensed perfusionist.

(3)        A perfusionistemployed by the United States government when performing duties associated withthat employment.

(4)        A person performingautotransfusion or blood conservation techniques under the direct supervisionof a licensed physician. (2005‑267, s. 1.)
