§ 90A‑52.  Practicewithout certificate unlawful.

(a)        In order tosafeguard life, health and the environment, it shall be unlawful for any personto practice as an environmental health specialist or an environmental healthspecialist intern in the State of North Carolina or use the title"registered environmental health specialist" or "registeredenvironmental health specialist intern" unless the person shall haveobtained a certificate of registration from the Board. No person shall offerservices as a registered environmental health specialist or registeredenvironmental health specialist intern or use, assume or advertise in any wayany title or description tending to convey the impression that the person is aregistered environmental health specialist or registered environmental healthspecialist intern unless the person is the holder of a current certificate ofregistration issued by the Board.

(b)        Notwithstanding theprovisions of subsection (a) of this section, a person may practice as anenvironmental health specialist intern for a period not to exceed three yearsfrom the date of the initial registration, provided the person has obtained atemporary certificate of registration from the Board.  (1959, c. 1271, s. 12; 1981(Reg.
