§95‑2.  Election of Commissioner; term; salary; vacancy.

The Commissioner of Laborshall be elected by the people in the same manner as is provided for theelection of the Secretary of State. The term of office of the Commissioner ofLabor shall be four years, and the salary of the Commissioner of Labor shall beset by the General Assembly in the Current Operations Appropriations Act. Anyvacancy in the office shall be filled by the Governor, until the next generalelection. The office of the Department of Labor shall be kept in the City ofRaleigh and shall be provided for as are other public offices of the State. Inaddition to the salary set by the General Assembly in the Current OperationsAppropriations Act, longevity pay shall be paid on the same basis as isprovided to employees of the State who are subject to the State Personnel Act.
