Chapter 38.--MINORS
Article 23.--REVISED KANSAS JUVENILE JUSTICE CODE

      38-2370.   Good time credits; rules and regulations;minimum term.(a) For purposes of determining release of a juvenileoffender, a system shall be developed whereby good behavior isthe expected norm andnegative behavior will be punished.

      (b)   The commissioner shall adopt rules and regulationsto carry out theprovisions of this section regarding good time calculations. Such rules andregulations shall providecircumstances upon which a juvenile offender may earn good time credits throughparticipation inprograms which may include, but not be limited to, education programs, workparticipation,treatment programs, vocational programs, activities and behavior modification.Such good timecredits may also include the juvenile offender's willingness to examine andconfront the pastbehavior patterns that resulted in the commission of the juvenile's offense.

      (c)   If the placement sentence established inK.S.A. 2009 Supp.38-2369, andamendments thereto, is used bythe court, the juvenile offender shall serve no less than the minimum termauthorized under thespecific category of such placement sentence.
