§11‑8.  When deputies may administer.

In all cases where any civilofficer, in the discharge of his duties, is permitted by the law to administeran oath, the deputy of such officer, when discharging such duties, shall haveauthority to administer it, provided he is a sworn officer; and the oath thusadministered by the deputy shall be as obligatory as if administered by theprincipal officer, and shall be attended with the same penalties in case offalse swearing.
