(a) There isestablished the North Carolina Innocence Inquiry Commission. The North CarolinaInnocence Inquiry Commission shall be an independent commission under theJudicial Department for administrative purposes.
(b) The AdministrativeOffice of the Courts shall provide administrative support to the Commission asneeded. The Director of the Administrative Office of the Courts shall notreduce or modify the budget of the Commission or use funds appropriated to theCommission without the approval of the Commission.
