15-861. Four day school week and alternative
kindergarten programs

(L10, Ch. 318, sec. 11. Eff. 7/1/11)

A. A governing board, after at least two public hearings in the school district,
may offer an educational program on the basis of a four day school week or an alternative
kindergarten program on the basis of a three day school week, or both.

B. The instructional time in an educational program offered on the basis of a four
day school week or in an alternative kindergarten program offered on the basis of a three
day school week must be equal to the instructional time in an educational program or
kindergarten program, as applicable, offered on the basis of a five day school
week. Notwithstanding section 15-901, subsection A, paragraph 5, for school districts
which offer an educational program on the basis of a four day school week in common
schools or an alternative kindergarten program on the basis of a three day school week,
or both, as provided in this section, the minimum number of minutes required for daily
attendance shall be increased so that the number of minutes per day multiplied by the
total number of school days per school year is at least equal to the number of minutes
prescribed for that program or grade in section 15-901, subsection A, paragraph 5,
multiplied by one hundred seventy-five.
