28-2412. Collegiate special plates
A. The department shall issue collegiate special plates that identify each
university that is described in section 15-1601. The collegiate special plates shall
have the same color and design as the collegiate license plates issued on or before
December 31, 1992, except that on the request of a university as described in section
15-1601, the department may revise the color and design of the plates as appropriate for
the university.
B. Of the twenty-five dollar fee required by section 28-2402 for original special
plates and for renewal of special plates, eight dollars is a special plate administration
fee and seventeen dollars is a collegiate plate annual donation.
C. The department shall deposit, pursuant to sections 35-146 and 35-147, all
special plate administration fees in the state highway fund established by section
28-6991 and shall transmit the collegiate plate annual donations to the board of regents
for placement in the appropriate university collegiate special plate fund.
D. The request for collegiate special plates may be combined with a request for
personalized special plates. This request shall be on a form prescribed by the director
and is subject to the fees required for the personalized special plates in addition to
the fees required for collegiate special plates.
