31-164. Inmate health insurance pools


A. The board of supervisors of two or more counties or the board of directors of
two or more county jail districts may enter into contracts or agreements pursuant to
section 11-952.01 to jointly purchase insurance or to pool retention of their risks for
inmate health care and to provide for the payment of claims made against any member of
the pool on a cooperative or contract basis with one another or may jointly form a
nonprofit corporation or enter into a trust agreement to carry out the provisions of this
section on their behalf directly or by contract with a private party.


B. An inmate health insurance pool established pursuant to this section may only
provide coverage for inmate health services.
