32-1293. Practicing as denturist; denture
technology; dental laboratory technician
A. Notwithstanding the provisions of section 32-1202, nothing in this chapter shall
be construed to prohibit a denturist certified pursuant to the provisions of this article
from practicing denture technology.
B. A person is deemed to be practicing denture technology who:
1. Takes impressions and bite registrations for the purpose of or with a view to
the making, producing, reproducing, construction, finishing, supplying, altering or
repairing of complete upper or lower prosthetic dentures, or both, or removable partial
dentures for the replacement of missing teeth.
2. Fits or advertises, offers, agrees, or attempts to fit any complete upper or
lower prosthetic denture, or both, or adjusts or alters the fit of any full prosthetic
denture, or fits or adjusts or alters the fit of removable partial dentures for the
replacement of missing teeth.
C. In addition to the practices described in subsection B of this section, a person
certified to practice denture technology may also construct, repair, reline, reproduce or
duplicate full or partial prosthetic dentures or otherwise engage in the activities of a
dental laboratory technician.
D. No person may perform an act described in subsection B of this section except a
licensed dentist, a holder of a restricted permit pursuant to section 32-1238, a
certified denturist or auxiliary personnel authorized to perform any such act by rule or
regulation of the board pursuant to section 32-1207, subsection A, paragraph 1.
