36-730. Appointment of guardian or
conservator

A. If the court determines that the afflicted person is or may be in need of a
guardian or conservator, or both, it shall order an investigation concerning the need for
a guardian or conservator and shall appoint a suitable person or agency to conduct the
investigation.

B. If the court finds that the afflicted person needs an immediate guardian or
conservator to protect the afflicted person or to carry out alternatives to court ordered
examination, treatment, monitoring, isolation or quarantine and there is no person
qualified and willing to act in that capacity, the court may appoint a person or the
public fiduciary to serve as a temporary guardian or conservator.
