41-1337. Library development service


The state library shall:


1. Prepare a plan for statewide public library service. The plan shall be put into
effect to the extent made practicable by available facilities.


2. Encourage and assist the development of library services in state institutions.


3. Compile and disseminate statistics and other data relating to libraries and
library services.


4. Give professional advice and assistance in the establishment and operation of
county free libraries, municipal libraries, or any combinations of county free and
municipal libraries, and to joint ventures of public and private or nonprofit libraries
in this state that make library information available to the public and that request such
professional advice and assistance.


5. Develop library service for the blind and physically disabled, including talking
book machine services, through state and regional centers.


6. Perform all other duties necessary or appropriate to the development of
statewide library service.
