41-1662. General training powers and duties of
the director; fund


A. The director shall:


1. Operate a correctional officer training academy.


2. Establish and maintain a correctional officer training program at the academy.


B. The director may:


1. Employ personnel and faculty as may be necessary to perform the academy's
functions and operate the academy.


2. Enter into contracts, including intergovernmental agreements under title 11,
chapter 7, article 3, as may be necessary to administer this article. Counties, cities
and towns may contract for training their correctional officers at the academy.


3. Adopt administrative rules for implementing this article and for the academy's
internal management and control.


4. Solicit, accept, spend and account for gifts and grants. A separate, permanent
training fund is established. The director shall administer the fund. Monies received
as gifts or grants shall be deposited in the fund. Monies received as gifts or grants
are subject to section 35-149.
