41-1701. Definitions

In this chapter, unless the context otherwise requires:

1. "Board" means the Arizona peace officer standards and training board.

2. "Criminal history record information" means information collected by criminal
justice agencies on individuals consisting of identifiable descriptions and notations of
arrests, detentions, indictments, informations, or other formal criminal charges, and any
disposition arising therefrom, sentencing, correctional supervision, and release.

3. "Criminal justice agency" means courts or a government agency or any subunit
thereof which performs detection, apprehension, detention, pretrial release, post-trial
release, prosecution, adjudication, correctional supervision, or rehabilitation of
accused persons or criminal offenders.

4. "Department" means the department of public safety.

5. "Director" means the director of the department of public safety.

6. "Patrol" means the Arizona highway patrol.

7. "Peace officer" means any personnel of the department designated by the director
as being a peace officer under the provisions of this chapter.

8. "Reserve" means the department of public safety reserve.
