44-1224. Law enforcement, firefighting or
emergency medical services products; sales; certification
A. It is an unlawful practice pursuant to section 44-1522 for any person to sell or
offer to sell any product, not including firearms, that is specifically designed, offered
for sale or sold for the personal safety of law enforcement, firefighting or emergency
medical services personnel unless the product is tested by an independent laboratory or
regulatory agency that certifies all claims of the manufacturer with respect to the
purpose and the warranty of fitness of the product.
B. An independent laboratory that conducts testing pursuant to subsection A of this
section shall be paid by the entity requesting the test. If an independent laboratory is
affiliated with the entity requesting the test, the independent laboratory is prohibited
from influencing or regulating the test.
