§ 8-1904. Board of Trustees - In general.
 

(a)  Number of members.- The powers and duties of the Chesapeake Bay Trust shall rest in and be exercised by a board of 19 trustees. 

(b)  Composition.- The Board of Trustees shall consist of: 

(1) The President of the Senate, ex officio; 

(2) The Speaker of the House, ex officio; 

(3) The Secretaries of Agriculture, the Environment, and Natural Resources, ex officio, or their designees; and 

(4) 14 individuals appointed by the Governor as follows: 

(i) 8 shall represent the interests of local government, education, environmental conservation, and the general public; and 

(ii) 6 shall represent the business community. 

(c)  Appointment of members.- The Governor shall consider geographical balance in making appointments to the Board of Trustees. 

(d)  Terms of members.- Except for the ex officio members or their designees: 

(1) The term of a member is 4 years; 

(2) The terms of members are staggered as required by the terms provided for members of the Board on July 1, 1985; 

(3) At the end of a term, a member continues to serve until a successor is appointed and qualifies; 

(4) A member who is appointed after a term is begun serves for the rest of the term and until a successor is appointed and qualifies; and 

(5) A member may serve no more than 2 terms.
