If plaintiff gives notice, in writing, compensation shall not berecovered.

524.240. If the plaintiff shall give the occupying claimantnotice, in writing, of his claim, and of the nature thereof, suchnotice shall bar the occupying claimant, and all persons claimingfrom or through him, of compensation for improvements made aftersuch notice.
