Injury to stock by railroad--agreed damages--payment, when.

537.280. Whenever any livestock shall be injured or killedby any railroad, so as to render the railroad liable undersection 537.270, or otherwise, and the owner of said livestock soinjured or killed, or his authorized agent, and the agent oradjuster of the railroad, shall agree upon the amount of damageor damages sustained by the owner, the railroad shall, withinforty days after said agreement, pay to the owner thereof, or hisauthorized agent, the amount of damage or damages so agreed upon.
