Firemen's pension fund provided.

87.495. Any fire department existing by authority of thelaws of this state, or any municipal authority thereof, in anycity or county in this state having a population of fiftythousand inhabitants or over, is hereby authorized and empoweredto form a pension fund and relief association under the generalincorporation laws of this state in relation to benevolentassociations, and to create a fund for the purpose of pensioningretired firemen, and affording relief to members of such firedepartment when sick, or who may become disabled in the service,and to provide a fund for the relief of the families and otherdependents of such firemen in case of death, under such rules andregulations as may be enacted by such fire department pensionfund and relief association, not inconsistent with sections87.495 to 87.515 or the laws of this state in relation tobenevolent associations.
