§ 90‑338.  Exemptions.

Applicants holdingcertificates of registration as Registered Practicing Counselors and in goodstanding with the Board shall be issued licenses as licensed professionalcounselors without meeting the requirements of G.S. 90‑336(c). Thefollowing applicants shall be exempt from the academic qualifications requiredby this Article for licensed professional counselor associates or licensedprofessional counselors and shall be licensed upon passing the Boardexamination and meeting the experience requirements:

(1)        An applicant who wasengaged in the practice of counseling before July 1, 1993, and who applied tothe Board prior to January 1, 1996.

(2)        An applicant whoholds a masters degree from a college or university accredited by one of theregional accrediting associations or from a college or university determined bythe Board to have standards substantially equivalent to a regionally accreditedinstitution, provided the applicant was enrolled in the masters program priorto July 1, 1994.  (1983,c. 755, s. 1; 1993, c. 514, s. 1; 1993 (Reg.
