Section 32-6-62

License plates valid for period of years.

(a) The license plates for private passenger automobiles and pickup trucks, such truck being defined as any truck with two axles and a gross weight not exceeding 12,000 pounds, shall be valid for five years and shall be replaced at the end of that period. License plates for all other vehicles shall be valid for one year and shall be replaced at the end of that period.

(b) Notwithstanding any other provision of law to the contrary, beginning January 1, 2007, any vehicle registered pursuant to the International Registration Plan shall be issued a license plate valid for a period of up to five years, or any number of years to be designated by the commissioner.
