Section 45-4-60.15

Transfer of title to property to county medical examiner and Department of Forensic Sciences.

Upon January 18, 2000, title and control of all equipment in the Office of the Bibb County Coroner shall be transferred by Bibb County to the county medical examiner and to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences. The Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences shall receive annually all the funds appropriated by the county commission for the office of the coroner or the office of the county medical examiner. The appropriation shall be in the amount agreed to between the county governing body and the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences each year, but the amount shall not be less than the amount appropriated to the office of the coroner in the Bibb County 1998-99 fiscal year budget. The Senior State Medical Examiner in Region II of the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences, in conjunction with the Bibb County Medical Examiner, shall review the funding of the county medical examiner each year with the Bibb County Commission to assure adequate support for the investigations of deaths in the county. The Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences shall utilize all funds to support investigations of deaths in Bibb County.
