SECTION 9220-9223



9220.  The Speaker is responsible for the efficient conduct of the
legislative and administrative affairs of the Assembly from the final
adjournment of any session of the Legislature until the convening of
the next session including, but not limited to, the preparation,
correction, filing and indexing of all bills, records, histories, and
other official documents of the Assembly, the proper maintenance of
committee rooms and offices of the Assembly and the assignment
thereof, and the signing of enrolled bills and delivery thereof to
the Governor.


9221.  Every member, officer, and employee of the Assembly shall,
upon request, assist the Speaker in carrying out the duties imposed
upon him under this article.



9222.  Neither the Speaker nor any Member of the Assembly who
assists him shall receive any additional salary for services rendered
pursuant to this article, but they shall be allowed the same mileage
and actual and necessary expenses for living accommodations and
meals as is provided by the Joint Rules for members of investigating
committees. Officers and employees who perform services pursuant to
this article shall be compensated at the same rate paid for their
services during the session. The allowances and compensation provided
for in this section shall be paid only out of any money appropriated
for the payment of legislative help. Claims for such allowances and
compensation shall be paid by warrants drawn by the State Controller
upon the State Treasurer, after certification by the Speaker.




9223.  Whenever the Speaker incurs expenses in connection with the
work of an Assembly committee of which he is a member, whether an ex
officio or otherwise, the Controller shall draw his warrant in
payment of the claim for such expenses when it is certified either by
the chairman of the committee or by the Speaker. The amount so paid
shall be charged against the money allocated to the committee from
the Assembly Contingent Fund.
