HEALTH AND SAFETY CODE
SECTION 7180



7180.  (a) An individual who has sustained either (1) irreversible
cessation of circulatory and respiratory functions, or (2)
irreversible cessation of all functions of the entire brain,
including the brain stem, is dead. A determination of death must be
made in accordance with accepted medical standards.
   (b) This article shall be applied and construed to effectuate its
general purpose to make uniform the law with respect to the subject
of this article among states enacting it.
   (c) This article may be cited as the Uniform Determination of
Death Act.
