255.561 Safety requirements.

   (1) When abatement work is undertaken, the appropriate regional asbestos program manager shall ensure that the asbestos contractor has posted warning signs around the perimeter of all asbestos work area enclosures and support areas. Warning signs shall conform to Occupational Safety and Health agency requirements for size and wording.

   (2) The regional asbestos program manager and asbestos consultant shall periodically inspect and oversee abatement work on public buildings to ensure that all applicable health and safety procedures are being complied with. If such health and safety procedures are not being complied with, the regional asbestos program manager may order the abatement work to be stopped until compliance is achieved.
