§11-134 Ballot transport containers; ballotboxes. (a) The seals of the ballot transport containers shall be brokenand opened on election day only in the presence of at least two precinctofficials not of the same political party.
(b) The chief election officer shall providesuitable ballot boxes for each polling place needed. They shall have a hingedlid fastened securely by a nonreusable seal. In the center of the lid thereshall be an aperture of the appropriate size for the voting system used. Theballot boxes shall be placed at a point convenient for the deposit of ballotsand where they can be observed by the precinct officials.
(c) At the opening of the polls for election,the chairperson of the precinct officials shall publicly open the ballot boxesand expose them to all persons present to show that they are empty. The ballotboxes shall be closed and sealed; they shall remain sealed until transported tothe counting center; provided that, in precincts where the electronic votingsystem is used, the ballot boxes shall not be opened at the polling placesexcept as provided by rules adopted pursuant to chapter 91.
