PART III. BOARDS OF REGISTRATION

 

§11-41  Boards of registration, appointment,tenure.  (a)  There shall be four boards of registration:  one for theisland of Hawaii; one for the islands of Maui, Molokai, Lanai, and Kahoolawe;one for the island of Oahu; and one for the islands of Kauai and Niihau.  Theboards, which shall be in the department of accounting and general services foradministrative purposes, shall consist of three members each and shall beappointed by the governor by and with the advice and consent of the senate;their terms of office shall be four years.

(b)  In no case shall any board consistentirely of members of one political party.

(c)  The several boards of registration shallsit in the county seats of their respective counties on election day.  Theboards shall also sit at such other times as the clerk determines within thevarious representative districts in their respective counties to hear appeals,provided there are any, from the voters registered within such districts.  Theboards shall continue their sittings until all appeals have been heard.
