[§28-111]  Victim-witness assistanceprogram.  (a)  There is established a victim-witness assistance program inthe department of the attorney general, whose purpose shall be to provideinformation, assistance, and support services to the victims of and witnessesto crimes committed in the State.

(b)  The attorney general shall allocate andaward appropriated funds to counties whose victim-witness assistance units arein substantial compliance with the policies and criteria established.  Theattorney general and the county prosecutors shall work together to establishvictim-witness assistance program policies and criteria which shall not besubject to chapter 91.  The county prosecutors shall implement the program intheir respective counties.

(c)  Any sums appropriated by the State for thevictim-witness units in each of the respective counties shall be contingentupon the respective counties providing a minimum of twenty-five per cent of thesum appropriated to each county. [L 1986, c 204, §2]
